Notice


As of April 1, 2014, FTIO will reform its body from a private organization to a General Corporation. Based on this reform, the name of the new organization will be Beppu International Plaza (BIP). 

BIP will provide the wide range of tourist information to foreign visitors to Beppu and the surrounding areas as in the past.
At the same time, BIP will expand its roll to help foreign people who live in the city through various types of activities including Japanese language class, calligraphy class and cross-cultural meeting.
Additionally, BIP will provide English, Korean and Chinese classes for Beppu locals to be able to communicate with foreign people as well as for BIP staff to enhance their activities.

We really appreciate your understanding and continuous cooperation to our new organization.

Harmoney Land in Hiji, neighboring town to Beppu

  Harmony Land in Hiji, neighboring town to Beppu, starts its Autumn Night Illumination on October 06. It lasts until November 04.
  The popular night illumination of Harmony Land has changed its decoration from summer feature to autumn one on October 06.
  The image of autumn and bamboo is represented with the brilliant illumination of 710,000 lightings. 
Halloween events will last until November 04 and Christmas events will follow.
  At the site of “Lighting Tanabata (the Weaver) Legend”, bamboos and 230,000 of luminous diode lights (LED) are decorated. Dark passages are softly emit-lighted by LED and the objects of “Bamboo arches”, “Bamboo fans”, etc. create fantastic atmosphere.
  The night events of Harmony Land began last August and will last until May, 2013, mainly on weekends, changing its themes and events at each season. Six deferent features will be presented throughout the period. 
 
  The ticket good for night events (after 4 o’clock) only is 1,000 yen. (4 years or older)

Oita/Seoul(Korea) Flights resume in December

Korean Airlines released it’s Oita-Seoul (Incheon) line, only international scheduled flight in Oita airport, to resume its operation from December 30, 2011. It has been cancelled since last April due to East Japan earthquake. To maintain its long lasting operation, Oita prefecture begins direct subsidies to the traveler from Oita upon its resumption.

According to Korean airlines Oita branch, tour groups began to increase on major flights such as Fukuoka/Korea routes. The parties concerned in Oita expect more foreign tourists to visit Oita via Seoul using Korean airlines flights. .

Schedule of the flights are as follows;

Seoul/Oita : Fridays 13:30 and Sundays 15:40
Oita/Seoul : Fridays 16:00 and Sundays 18:10
